WHO WE ARE
OUR VISION
BLACK GIRL MIRACLE IS DEFINING A FUTURE WHERE EVERY BLACK GIRL IS SEEN, EMPOWERED, PROTECTED AND RESOURCED TO REALIZE HER FULL POTENTIAL
Black Girl Miracle is a cultural institute preserving the beauty and dignity of Black girlhood through art and storytelling. We integrate faith, art, and community to offer Black women and girls a redemptive lens through which to interpret our experiences.
OUR MANDATE
WE EXIST TO PRESERVE THE COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS OF BLACK WOMEN & GIRLS — USING ART & STORYTELLING TO BUILD ECOSYSTEMS OF CARE WHERE WE CAN THRIVE IN THE FULLNESS OF OUR HUMANITY

Black Girl Miracle re-imagines the way Black women and girls are represented in arts, culture, media, and within our own communities by putting the pen back in our hands to tell our stories. Our arts- and community- based interventions inspire renewed vision for our futures and commission Black women and girls to take their place in shaping history, culture, and legacy.

OUR APPROACH
At Black Girl Miracle, we understand that stories do not simply describe reality—they help produce it. When Black women and girls are flattened by stereotype or distorted in the public's imagination, the consequences are not merely symbolic. They shape how we are seen, treated, and resourced—impacting identity, opportunity, and material life outcomes.
Through creativity, community, capital, and cultural advocacy, we work to change what is imagined as possible and expand the conditions under which Black women and girls can thrive.
01.
CREATIVITY
because art can restore dignity, preserve memory, and reshape cultural imagination
02.
COMMUNITY
because healing is as collective as it is personal
03.
CAPITAL
because repair without reinvestment is incomplete
04.
CULTURAL ADVOCACY
because harmful stories must be challenged not only artistically, but structurally and publicly
OUR STORY
A letter from our founder

As a Black woman of Christian faith, I have often felt disembodied in spaces of worship—where my spiritual conversion is celebrated, but my soul scrutinized and my body demonized (or at best, ignored). In my early years, devotion to the Lord sometimes felt like a disappearing act, and I struggled to reconcile my faith with the fullness of who I am.
Healing began when I realized that my Redeemer is also my Maker—and that the whole of my being is cherished by God. My Blackness, my womanhood, and my story are not at odds with my faith. They do not jeopardize God’s eternal purposes. They are most truly expressed when we fully belong to Him.
Black Girl Miracle is a public contemplation of an ongoing conversation between me and God. What began as a personal testimony and a seemingly whimsical idea has grown into a charge—to gather Black women and girls who recognize themselves in this journey. Since 2018, we have stewarded a culture that honors the beauty and dignity of our experiences through art and storytelling—curating exhibitions, conversations, and community spaces that have impacted hundreds of souls. And still, I feel we've only just begun.
As we enter this next chapter, I believe God is calling BGM to expand again—building the partnerships, strategy, and support needed to sustainably shape a future where every Black girl can realize her full potential. I am humbled by this mandate. I am committed to this cause. And I hope you’ll continue on the journey with me.
For the love of Black girls,
